My rocks

At my first location, there was a lot of shale, mica, and pyrite.

In the shale ... garnet! It is the gemstone aka almandine / carbuncle.

I brought home some other stuff to tumble and see what it yields, too.


I bought a vibrating tumbler because I would rather keep more of the rocks' natural shapes, instead of making rounded, polished stones, especially with the natural facets some of them exhibit (particularly the garnets!).
